Puma Team Weekly update
We want to extend a great thank you for all the Puma family members who were able to join us in celebrating the students at our The Dark Side of Chocolate community event. It was great to see the students interacting and sharing their learning with so many community members! Check out pictures of our community event: The Dark Side of Chocolate.
This week in class...
Math - Michelle York writes:
We will be finishing up the Probability unit and also taking any necessary retakes for the STAR math assessment.
Social Studies - Nancy Lindbom writes:
This week in Social Studies we will focus on current events going on in our world. The students will be watching CNN for Kids and engaging in both written work and group discussions.
ELA - Britni Rowe writes:
This week in ELA we will be continuing to work on our vocabulary; students will be assessed on Friday, June 15th. As always with our vocabulary units, students are encouraged to test out early if they feel they already know the words, and I will provide them with an 8th grade or SAT level vocabulary packet to work on.
We will also be taking our final STAR assessment of the year on Tuesday and Wednesday; this assessment is used to track students’ progress in Reading, so please encourage your child to do his or her best.
Wellness - Liz Schambach writes:
This is a FULL week in the classroom. We have a few things to tidy up with our last EQ #4 -’How do I know I am getting there?’ and complete the quarter with Committing to Futures they want with formal documents. Kids will celebrate their wellness quarter the last week with fun games as the end the year closes.
Science - Scott Dorr writes:
This week we will watch the documentary “The Vanishing of the Bees” to help us get a good sense of the issues facing one of the worlds best pollinators. There will be a small assessment for the kids at the end of the week, where they will show their knowledge of our current standard.

Student-led CONFERENCES
In the Fall and Spring, the team will invite you to sign up for a Student-Led Conference (SLC); these conferences are an important part of your child's learning process. Unlike the optional parent/guardian & team conferences, during the SLCs, your child will lead you through a portfolio that shows his or her process as a learner. We believe it is important that students take an active role in these conferences in order to develop ownership of their learning. We look forward to seeing you there as well!
