Brainstorming Together...
In Advisory, students were asked to brainstorm and discuss the various responsibilities and activities that fill their schedules. Several students recognized that they had a lot on their plate. When pushed further, some felt that they were able to manage their time, while others admitted that it was challenging. As a group, each Advisory brainstormed strategies that for how to manage their time and complete their work. Below, you list of strategies that Puma students use to successfully manage their busy schedules.

Strategies for Managing
time & workload
What you should do...
What you shouldn't do...
- After you finish your work, reward yourself as a motivation
- Rewards might be food, screen time (TV, phone, video-game, etc.), or go outside
- Text a friend for help when you need it
- Set aside a timeframe for your work (maybe 20 minutes for each class)
- Have a schedule for when you get home after school
- Write a list of thing you need to do and put it near your door or on your mirror
- Write a schedule or list on a whiteboard
- Have a routine with someone else (friend, sibling, dog)
- Know what you have to do before you get started - write down any upcoming dates or events in your planner at the beginning of the week
- Break up your work by your closest due date
- Use your planner, Google Classroom Calendar & To Do list to make sure that you've turned in all your work
- Write down all of your homework, as well as everything else you must do in your planner or on a sheet of paper and write down "study more" when you don't have anything to do
- Start homework immediately when you get home OR relax when you first get home and then get started at specific time
- Listen in class (it helps you to know what you need to do)
- Write out what you need to do in your planner and check it after dinner and before bed
- Finish homework first when you get home, then do chores, and have free time after that
- Work during TLT (if you have it)
- Do homework when you first get home or in the car/bus (if you can)
- Listen to your parents when they tell you to do work
- Go somewhere quiet to focus
What you shouldn't do...
- Spend all of your time on social media
- Not do your homework
- If you don't have enough time, pay someone to do it (REMINDER: This is in the do NOT do section)
